About this deal

Spirits haunted various regions of Middle-earth, most notably the Dead Marshes and the Paths of the Dead, which were guarded by the Dead Men of Dunharrow. Fram rebuked this claim, sending them instead Scatha's teeth, with the words, "Jewels such as these you will not match in your treasuries, for they are hard to come by.

His vision of what Arda should have been differed from Eru's, which led to his banishment and great rebellion that would cause most of the ills of the world of Arda. T 3] Tolkien never provided non-Elvish names for the other two; one tradition gives their names in Valinor as Alatar and Pallando, [T 3] and another as Morinehtar and Rómestámo in Middle-earth. The three Hobbit clans took different routes on their journey westward into Eriador, the Lone-lands. Although Hobbits are a peaceful people, who usually shun fighting, they are also, as a race, very courageous, uncanny marksmen adept with missile weapons of all kinds, from throwing stones to slings and bows - hence the company of archers purportedly sent to aid the Arnorians at the Battle of Fornost.

Tolkien had been fascinated with dragons since childhood, [T 32] and he named four dragons in his Middle-earth writings. By the time they were discovered by the other peoples of Middle-earth, they had already been around for many generations. During his two thousand years in Middle Earth, Gandalf began to understand the way these inhabitants lived, especially the Hobbits.

North of that lie the Iron Hills of Dain's dwarves; between those and Mirkwood is Erebor, the Lonely Mountain, once home to Smaug the dragon, and afterwards to Thorin's dwarves. Lórien and Mandos were brothers, and would be referred to together as the Fëanturi or "Masters of Spirits". Enslaved peoples were those races that had fallen under the sway of the evil spirits Morgoth and Sauron, also known by the Free Peoples as 'Servants of the Enemy'. Elves who stayed in Middle-earth and never saw the light of the trees became known as the Moriquendi or "Dark-elves".You could see this kind of gleaning in the original Mirage Press edition (circa 1972) of Robert Foster's Guide to Middle-earth. Further information: The Atlas of Middle-earth Fonstad created "the most comprehensive set" of thematic maps of Middle-earth, such as Frodo and Sam's route to Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring.

Although we have a significant number of works published by Tolkien and his son Christopher, there are a huge number of unanswered questions about MIddle-earth: this will answer some of those questions. The Nature of Middle-earth is a 2021 book of previously unpublished materials on Tolkien's legendarium, compiled and edited by the scholar Carl F. Danielson suggests that this has assisted the tendency among Tolkien's fans to treat his maps as "geographical fact". During the early Third Age and until the end of the Watchful Peace, they were tasked with finding where Sauron dwelt. Early in the Third Age, the northern kingdom of Arnor founded by Elendil occupied a large part of the region.Every year started on a Saturday and ended on a Friday, with each of the twelve months consisting of thirty days. These gifts come at great cost, though: they are strongly bound to Fate (see Mandos) and hated by Morgoth. There, Círdan handed him Narya, one of the Three Elven Rings, explaining that difficult temptations were awaiting him and that the Ring would help him in his endeavors. Ancalagon the Black ( Sindarin: rushing jaws from anc 'jaw', alag 'impetuous' [T 35]) was the first of the winged Fire-drakes and the greatest of all dragons, bred by Morgoth during the First Age, as told in The Silmarillion. The early stages of the conflict are chronicled in The Silmarillion, while the final stages of the struggle to defeat Sauron are told in The Hobbit and in The Lord of the Rings.
